Founded in 1983 by André Gignoux, ELAG Elektronik began with a singular focus: developing the world’s most accurate laser triangulation sensor. Over the decades, our expertise in optical measurement deepened, and we realized our clients needed more than just world-class components—they needed complete solutions.
Today, as an ISO 9001:2015 certified company with a global footprint spanning from Switzerland to China and the USA, we continue to push the boundaries of what can be measured, ensuring the safety and efficiency of global infrastructure.

1983
Foundation of ELAG Elektronik & development of the first Laser Triangulation Sensor
1984 - 1990
Establishment of first sales agencies and transition to a joint-stock company (AG)
1994 - 1997
Technological leaps: Launch of the Laser Profile Scanner and integration of digital CMOS and CAN Bus
1999
A pivotal year: Expansion of headquarters (1250m²) and strategic shift to becoming a full system provider
2001 - 2008
Launch of critical systems: Overhead wire scanning, Road inspection, and Wheelset diagnostics
2006 - 2015
Global expansion with dedicated offices opening in France, China, Japan, and the USA
2017 - 2021
Launch of Full 3D High-speed compensated Road Inspection Systems and High-Resolution Railway Track
